Hi Rachel. While I like the photo, the watermark makes it really hard to appreciate it fully. It's almost like a graphic design type element. I'm also wondering if the image could create a stronger emotional reaction if the contrast was upped and the shadows darkened somewhat. It would bring more depth to the relief and emphasize the expression on the angel's face. Or else swing it the opposite way where the shadows are almost washed out and only the angel's face and flower are emphasized... Hope I'm not critiquing too much!

No, critiques are fine.

The watermark's generated by my gallery host (Zenfolio) though it is my design. The vertical turns out to be less intrusive than the horizontal - but you're right - it does stand out particularly clearly in this image.

Re: the levels and contrast - I think if I were processing this image now I'd probably do more along the lines you describe. This one was taken not long after I'd gotten the camera, and before I'd really gotten a good fix on how best to use Photoshop for the post-processing (plus it was an old version, which was so inferior to the version I use now).

I'd probably sharpen it a bit too.
