San Diego Fires

I am very glad that my friends in the backcountry evacuated safely.  I just hope that their homes - which were burned completely during the last major fire - will be spared.

This is a site with good information on the fires in San Diego County:  http://sdcountyemergency.com/

My old boss retired to Julian. He was evacuated in '03, but they held the advance of the fire short of Julian. I see they're starting to evacuate parts of Julian again. We can only hope for the best.

Yes. What's unsettling about this latest round of fires is how much I can identify from just the line-item news reports. This is all country that I know quite well, having driven, lived, and hiked through most of it.

It's somewhat strange to realize, but I find myself wishing I was there right now.
