What's so fun about your random 10s is that I almsot never have even heard of any of your music. It sounds like very peaceful, blissed out kind of music, much of it. Is it?

Some of it. There's also a fair amount of bouncy instrumental stuff, rhythmic world music, and folky-rocky type stuff with interesting lyrics. My current fascination, for example, is Cake. There's just something nicely "crunchy" about the sound, and the lyrics are creative and catchy.
Overall, I like things that have a "clean" feel to the instrumentals (not so much into buzz or dissonance, eg.), and lyrics I can understand and sing along with.
I think if you look at the contexts in which I listen to music, it explains some of my tastes: yoga, cleaning the apartment, road trips, dancing, and as background sound when writing (no lyrics, then, unless in a language I don't know well).

See, for me, at my core I like dissonance, chaos, noise, and feedback in my music. And I like lyrics that are interesting but not necessarily easy to figure out or sing along with (I think so when I sing along with them badly it's ok?).
Some of the music I like is folksy and slow and pretty--there's certainly a lot of range in my taste. But I always come back to music that jangles. Actually I think my absolutely favorite music these days is done by bands like Wilco, who come out of folk or country and have a background of "clean" instrumentals but who have now moved into some kind of rock and have layered into their sound all kinds of dissonance.
