States Quiz
Another fun game for all you geography buffs out there can be found here. You click and drag US states to their proper locations as fast as you can. Points are taken off for inaccuracies.
My first three scores (go, me!)
1) 92% 23 miles 354 seconds
2) 94% 18 miles 276 seconds
3) 98% 2 miles 205 seconds
c/o julie.

Yeah, you rock significantly at it. I just kept getting Utah/Iowa/Colorado first, without any other landmark to go by! That's my excuse, anyway. The "advanced" quiz is state-by-state placement also, but the states you've already placed _don't stay on the map_. Eeesh.

Got a 90%, where I was lucky and started with states on the coasts and Texas.

Yeah, this came could be potentially difficult, so you do indeed rock with those impressive scores. I got 92% each time at the intermediate level. Trying to find the accurate position of Colorado and or Wyoming, when there are indeed no other landmarks is not as easy as I thought it would be.

One of the problems with these states/country games is that sometimes you can get a little overconfident as you are dragging your piece to the board. You fumble, hear that "oh" and then the computer thinks you are some dork who does not know where Ireland is. Grr...

Exactly! I had that happen several times. Once with _Brazil_.
I also haven't figured out the trick for correctly typing in the three letters for the F. Y. O. R. or whatever the heck that is. I mean, geez, it's okay to abbreviate on the map, but please, please spell it out on the other part!

Exactly...those darned Macedonians, or is it those darned Montenegrans...I should know this! Grr...

I will never forgive you for pointing me in the direction of this addictive game. I can now differentiate between Colorado and Wyoming by shape - and their both squares!!!! AIYEEE!!!!
Thank you :)

Hee. :)
Oh, btw, D. has passed along the trick for dealing with abbreviated names.
For F.Y.O.R. you need to type "f.y" and if the name is something like "Eq. Guinea," you have to type "eq." not "equ".
(And that's how we know we're dealing with a rather literal computer!)
Now, if only they would provide a "mute" button, so I could play the game and listen to the online radio at the same time... (my co-workers don't mind the radio, but adding little chirps of "Good!" "Right." etc. is a little too obviously not work-related.)
