More Work, Yippee!

Today the Big Boss approached me to see if I'd be interested in helping him and the HR/admin people pursue some new accreditation possibilities, a task involving a lot of internet research and planning and reports. Would I be interested? Heck yeah!

You are aware that you need to be keeping a portfolio of this kind of thing? (Blogging it will help too.)

That's how you get promotions and pay raises. And new jobs, for that matter.

Yep. I don't know that it's really _that_ complicated a task, given that about four other people will also be working on it, but it's something other than data entry and filing (soooo boring now that I've streamlined everything).

But yes, I do keep track of all the various projects and routine tasks I do here, from auditing students to designing bureaucratic forms -- part of my "If I were hit by a bus tomorrow..." mentality -- everyone would be stunned at how many weird little things I do.

But thanks for the reminder! (I should be better about writing out descriptions of these tasks in detail, rather than simply one-lining them.)

I like your job interview question, btw. Reminds me of when I used to ask search committees to explain how they felt their department fit into the larger scheme of things -- it always surprised them in a good way. (Feel free to borrow for yourselves, job seekers.)

Sounds great, Rana.
