Looking Up

catpicw2.JPG

Here she is again, MNC (My Neighbor's Cat). Sometimes she likes to tap me on the head when I walk under her like this.

Man, that thing would give me nightmares. But I'm not a cat person. It's that whole Perched and Ready to Pounce business that sorta undoes me.

That's rather funny, since normally she is too mellow to be very threatening. She is unable to jump higher than about two feet off the ground, too. :)

She _is_ a terror around rival cats, though.

I can just read her mind when she swats at you.

That's one big mouse. Dinner tonight is go-- Darn. It's just Rana again.

Hee hee.

I really should have said that she _pats_ my head -- it's very gentle. However, she _is_ a tireless and persistent hunter of yarn balls, so it is important to keep an alert eye on her when she visits. Not only does she drool on the yarn (ugh), but they tend to become unraveled when she flings them around.

My old roommate's friend used to come to our place and knit. He was irritated that my cats would play with the yarn. Everything *I* own is theirs first, which is, I think, how most cats see the world in general. And it's the right way. :>

Just in case, since this is an outdoor cat, it seems: tell her owner not to use Hartz products.

Yeah, my usual philosophy when letting cats visit is that it's the human's responsibility to put cat-vulnerable things out of reach. (What "out of reach" means in practice can be hard to determine sometimes; kittens are especially clever at getting into trouble!)

I don't think MNC's owner uses any products, period; no collar, and an occasional flea is seen. (She's a somewhat negligent cat mom.) But if it comes up, I will.
